Napkins
Back to the napkinNapkeen napkins are cotton, cut and stitched in our own workshop in India. They're soft, they soak up spills, and they're meant for every meal, not saved for guests.
Why cloth, not paper
Cotton is gentle on hands and lips, and it soaks up a spill instead of tearing apart.
Double-stitched hems hold their shape wash after wash. Throw it in at 40°C and dry it in the sun.
One cloth napkin, used again and again, instead of a pile of tissues after every meal.
Haldi happens
Our care routine for turmeric. Sunlight fades haldi's yellow, which is why the last step matters. Try it on the swatch.
A drawing, not a lab result. Chai can be more stubborn than haldi in the sun.

The napkin we're making
Back to the napkinIn development · early 2027
A cotton-linen napkin, sateen woven, with a soil-release finish made without PFAS. It's designed to let oily haldi stains wash out. We'll only say it works once an accredited lab says so.
What's in it
The drop test
Most stain-proof napkins push spills away, often with PFAS. Ours takes the spill in, then lets it go in the wash.
A simplified drawing of how each kind of finish is designed to behave, not our test results.
Test plan
Every test it has to pass before it goes on sale. We'll post each result here.

Back to the napkinOften, a chemical finish. Many of the strongest stain and water repellents are made with PFAS, a family of thousands of man-made chemicals built on carbon–fluorine bonds.
That bond is one of the strongest in chemistry, so PFAS barely break down, in nature or in our bodies. That's why they're called forever chemicals. Studies link some of them to harm to the immune system and hormones, and to some cancers (US EPA summary).

What we found
72%
of 47 products sold as stain- or water-resistant contained PFAS, in a 2022 US study.
Toxic-Free Future2027
From October, the EU limits PFHxA, one group of PFAS, in all consumer textiles.
Beveridge & Diamond0
Indian rules on PFAS in table linen that we could find. So we're setting our own.
Not every stain-resistant product contains PFAS, and most plain cotton napkins have no finish at all. If a label says stain-proof or water-repellent, it's fair to ask what's doing the work.
Our rule: nothing in a Napkeen napkin is made with PFAS.We won't print that on a tag until a lab has checked it. When it has, the report goes on the napkin we're making page.
Sample sets
Back to the napkinWe're handing out sample sets of our cotton napkins to homes and cafés. Every napkin carries a small code, so what you tell us reaches the exact fabric and design.
